Gettin’ Your Tangerine Tango On

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock and didn’t catch the word a few weeks back, Tangerine Tango is Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2012. It’s actually a pretty shade of red-orange, or orange-red, depending on your point of view. Of course for most people, it just translates to orange.

Here’s the thing about orange: It’s not an easy color to wear. Red-orange is a little easier (I have a red-orange wool coat hanging in my closet from a few seasons ago), but in general, orange scares the hell out of people when it comes to their clothing. Personally, I think it’s because it is far too easy to end up looking like you’re wearing a Halloween theme outfit.

So, how can you find an easy way to incorporate a little of this trend without overwhelming your closet or body with a color you may not be comfortable with yet? My favorite solution is with a touch of jewelry. I love a big, bold ring as a solitary accessory. And it doesn’t even have to be expensive jewelry. Bonus!

Since putting orange near your face might feel like a bit much, especially if you’re not used to a lot of color, try a ring. There are lots of pretty costume jewelry ring options out there, and it’s pretty easy to find them in a variety of colors. Here’s a fun one I dug up on Etsy. I couldn’t wear this, because my skin wouldn’t tolerate the band, but now I’m kind of lusting after the idea of a bright orange ring now…especially if I can find it in plaid.
